Description: Full-time management position that helps implement and enforce Company safety programs and procedures. Emphasis is the reduction of the frequency of work-related accidents and injuries with aggressive prevention efforts for on-the-job accidents and injuries. Some travel required. Safety Manager reports directly to HR Director with guidance provided by Corporate Risk Manager.

1. Responsible for leading and training in-plant Safety Leaders in all areas of Company policy and procedures with regard to safety.

2. Develop, recommend, implement and oversee compliance of safety policies and procedures.

3. Develop and complete monthly safety training for in-plant Safety Leaders to present to production workers using written and multi-media materials.

4. Maintenance of records and reports for safety training and corporate on-site safety inspections of each plant on semi-annual schedule. Create, write and edit forms.

5. Prepare studies and analysis of incident/accident causes and hazards and frequency of incidents for use by management.

6. Manage workers compensation claims and coordinate with insurers to obtain successful outcomes and return to work.

7. Maintain OSHA Injury Logs.

8. Build and maintain a safety culture throughout all facets of the Company.

9. Responsible for updating Management and written safety policies to all applicable changes in OSHA regulations.

10. Other miscellaneous duties as assigned by management.

Qualifications: 

Qualifications:

1. OSHA 30 Hour Certified

2. Must understand OSHA standards as they pertain to machine guarding, hearing conservation, PPE, SDS, LOTO, Forklift, etc.

3. Training and experience in safety related field

4. Degree in Occupational Health and Safety or a related field of study preferred. Equivalent experience considered.

5. Strong written and verbal communication and organizational skills; proficient in Word and Excel

6. Experience creating a safety program, auditing, policy writing and management level training.

7. Experience in the administration of workers compensation programs.

8. A valid driver’s license and insurability under the Company insurance policy

9. Knowledge of industrial safety standards and construction preferred.

10. Self-motivated and able to multi-task in multiple areas.
