Carpenter Contractors of America, Inc. is seeking a seasoned Director, Purchasing to source and buy building materials to support our component manufacturing 410,000 square foot plant located in Belvidere, IL.

  • Strong consideration for candidates in our industry and our market.
  • Responsible for sourcing and procuring residential construction materials to include commodity lumber. EWP,I-joist and Hardware products.
  • Develops, maintains and strengthens relationships with strategic lumber partners to improve material sourcing through distribution, mill direct and futures trading opportunities.
  • Negotiates pricing and delivery with supply sources.
  • Initiates significant material purchases as the market dictates.
  • Monitors raw material inventory.  Conducts cycle counts as needed and manages the annual inventory process.
  • Stays abreast of market changes, trends and fluctuations.  Communicates internally markets conditions, trends and pricing.
  • Works closely with plant and field operations, product design and labor estimating teams.
  • Measures and tracks vendor performance for quality and timely delivery.
Qualifications: 
  • Strong consideration for candidates with experience in the residential construction industry with working knowledge of our market.
  • Minimum 5 years experience purchasing building materials.
  • Possesses solid working relationships with building materials vendors.
