Market Safety Manager

 

The Market Safety Manager is responsible for planning, organizing, communicating, and leading associated staff to enhance and control all aspects of the safety programs in the assigned market(s) and to prevent and correct unsafe working conditions and behaviors.

 

Responsibilities include ensuring compliance as well as educating all market personnel in accordance with State and Federal regulations, applicable standards, codes, and policies. The individual in this position, in partnership with the market leadership team, is responsible for setting priorities and goals for all business segments, coordinating with other supervisors and leaders when necessary to ensure safe job sites, conducting safe work practices training, conducting safety audits, performing accident investigations and serving as the liaison between any claimants and the corporate risk management dept. The position requires daily travel within the San Antonio/Austin Market to include job site visits/inspections of our construction service operations, along with production facility inspections/reviews for our building materials operations. This position also oversees all vehicle safety procedures and associated policies/regulations.

Qualifications: 

 

Required Skills
  1. Bachelor’s Degree or 10 or more years of related experience or equivalent combination of education and safety experience.
  2. Possession of technical knowledge of safety competency elements and occupational hazards, knowledge of OSHA regulations, DOT compliance and other safety standards pertaining to the construction services and building materials industries.
  3. OSHA 30-hr General Industry certification required; 1910 CSHO, 1926 CSHO, SHEP, CSP, ASP or OSHA 501 considered a plus.
  4. Bi-lingual (English/Spanish) ability in speaking and writing is ideal. 
  5. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, adult training and educating.
  6. The ability to manage time effectively, work independently, communicate effectively (verbal and written), and demonstrate effective problem solving is critical for this position.
  7. Strong computer skills with a working knowledge of Word, Excel, and Outlook.
